Description
Children’s Vitamin D3
Children’s Vitamin D3 is the sunniest and one of the most needed vitamins for both adults and children.
Almost every child experiences its deficiency, since the sun does not shine all year round, and we spend most of the time indoors – in kindergarten, at school, in circles. Vitamin D3 is not synthesized by our body on its own, although its role in the work of all organs and systems is difficult to overestimate.
In infancy, vitamin D3 acts as a prophylactic against the development of rickets and is involved in the formation of bone tissue.
After 3 years, vitamin D3 is necessary for the correct development of the endocrine and reproductive systems, reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, preventing depressive conditions and chronic fatigue syndrome, as well as strengthening the immune system.
It is important to know that vitamin D comes in two forms – D3 (cholecalciferol) and D2 (ergocalciferol). They work in the same way, only the first is of animal origin and is obtained mainly from lanolin, and the second is vegetable, it is obtained from yeast and fungi.
A number of scientists believe that D3 works better than D2 due to its animal origin, but at the moment this is one of the assumptions that do not have a broad evidence base.
From the daily diet, the solar vitamin can be obtained from cod liver or halibut, in a certain amount it is found in fish oil, as well as in goat’s milk, egg yolks, shiitake mushrooms – but these products, unfortunately, are very often unloved by young growing organisms. And for a child’s body, the same mushrooms or cod liver are quite “heavy” for digestion by products.
What form of Children’s Vitamin D3 to choose?
There are several forms of vitamin D3 on the Russian market, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Vitamin D belongs to the category of fat-soluble – therefore, the simplest and most logical form of release is an oil solution.
Vitamin D in oil form is recommended to be consumed with food, and the process of splitting it takes more time compared to water-soluble counterparts.
Oil forms are not recommended for premature babies, as well as children with impaired bile production, since the absorption of vitamin D depends on the formation and flow of bile into the intestines.
Also, the result from the use of oil forms comes a little later than from water-soluble forms – after 10-14 days, while the results from taking an aqueous solution appear on 5-7 days.
However, aqueous solutions have one significant disadvantage – as a rule, stabilizers and preservatives are added to their composition, which can cause allergic reactions.
A common significant drawback of solutions is the complexity of their dosing – no, no, and an extra drop will pour out. And an overdose of vitamin D is much more dangerous than its deficiency.
Optimal from the point of view of dosing are the forms of chewable dragees and sprays. However, the latter have a rather high cost, since today they are represented exclusively by foreign manufacturers.
